Ivo Babuska was a renowned mathematician, a visionary of computational mechanics, and a beloved mentor and friend.

He is remembered for his curiosity, his vitality, and a legacy of mathematical proofs that have profoundly shaped our modern world.

An exhibit to honor and celebrate Dr. Ivo Babuška on the 100th anniversary of his birthdate is displayed in the Peter O'Donnell, Jr. Building beginning February 2026. A special distinguished lecture for the Oden Institute community was delivered by Dr. Leszek Demkowicz on February 26, 2026. On February 27, Dr. Demkowicz gave a more personal talk as part of the Finite Element Rodeo, reflecting on Dr. Babuška’s life and contributions. Slides from that session are available here.
